We use an exercise derived process which facilitates specific developmental sequences that should have connected during infancy. These stability patterns underlie all the more advanced skills your therapist is working on. By completing and filling in missing patterns, the client has a more complete foundation to strengthen and refine the more advanced skills the therapist is working toward.
Occupational, Physical, Speech, Visual, Auditory Processing/Listening, and Developmental therapies constitute the majority of the therapists with whom we interface. We welcome the opportunity to coordinate with any of your existing therapists to optimize progress toward your goals.
Very often we find athletic, muscular children still have missed stabilization pattern development. There are two types of muscle fibers—slow and fast. We often find that athletic children have substituted the fast muscle action to compensate for the slow, endurance and postural muscles. When this happens the children are often tired due to inefficient use of the respective muscle systems. We also find the children have poor modulation from fast to slow, and hard to soft. Once the stabilizing muscles are engaged they are better able to grade efforts in these ranges.
We see children and adults who are concerned with being in top condition for their sports and recreational performance. Often, a prior injury is the reason for the sessions due to concerns over the risks of acquiring another injury. We make sure the basic stabilization patterns are all activating quickly and symmetrically, and then look at sports specific movements.
Kinetic Konnections programs are generally not covered by insurance. Some portions of School Readiness Assessments may be covered depending upon specific plan details. We can provide billing details upon request.
The muscles are taking on new function and sometimes they get tired. Occasionally there will be soreness as the muscle gets a new level of workout by everyday activities. Soreness may surface 1-3 days after the session and should go away within a few days. If it does not, please call. There may be a resultant imbalance causing the soreness.
Sensory systems can fatigue from the process of integrating and assimilating new sensory input. This may result in feeling overwhelmed, emotionally sensitive or light-headed. It may take 24-48 hours for the sensory system to recalibrate. If this lasts more than 48 hours please call.
